The HCV antibody test (Anti-HCV) is a blood test that detects if your immune system has produced antibodies against the hepatitis C virus. A positive (reactive) result indicates past or present exposure to the virus but does not confirm an active infection. A positive result requires a follow-up HCV RNA confirmatory test to determine if the virus is currently active.
