The Böhler-Braun (BB) Splint is a specialized metallic frame equipped with a multi-pulley system used in Orthopaedics to immobilise, support, and apply mobile traction to lower limb fractures. Unlike temporary transit solutions, this stationary apparatus is designed specifically for bed use during prolonged hospital traction therapy.
- Lowermost Pulley: Used to align and pull traction for tibia and fibula fractures.
- Second Pulley from Bottom: Positioned for supracondylar fractures of the femur.
- Third Pulley (Directed Outward): Geared towards managing fractures of the middle third of the femur shaft.
- Topmost Pulley (Directed Inward): Supports a suspension mechanism explicitly dedicated to keeping the foot upright to prevent foot drop
