About this medicine
Omez 40 Tablet is a medicine that helps reduce the amount of acid made by the stomach. It is used for the treatment of peptic ulcer, gastric ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and for the management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a rare condition in which the stomach produces too much acid. Take Omez 40 Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor, usually once daily before a meal. Swallow it whole; do not chew or crush it. To get the most benefit, take it regularly at the same time each day. Continue the full course even if you feel better, as stopping too soon may cause symptoms to return. Along with treatment, avoid irritants such as alcohol, tobacco, and spicy or acidic foods. Eat smaller, more frequent meals and do not lie down immediately after eating.
The most common side effects include headache, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and gas. These are generally mild and often go away as your body adjusts to the medicine. If diarrhea is severe, persistent, or watery, inform your doctor. Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet can help reduce discomfort.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver disease or any kidney problems. Long-term or high-dose use may increase the risk of bone fractures, low vitamin B12 or magnesium levels, or fundic gland polyps in the stomach. Therefore, the medicine should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. Seek immediate help if you notice signs of severe allergic reaction, such as swelling, breathing difficulty, or rash with blisters. Do not take Omez 40 Tablet if you are allergic to omeprazole or any ingredients in the medicine. Inform your doctor about all other medicines you take, as Omez 40 Tablet can affect how other medicines work.

Benefits
In Treatment of Heartburn Heartburn and acid reflux happens when a muscle above your stomach relaxes too much and allows stomach contents and acid to come back up into your esophagus and mouth. Omez 40 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. It reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes and relieves the pain associated with heartburn and acid reflux. You can increase the efficiency of the medicine by making certain lifestyle changes. These include avoiding foods that trigger the symptoms, eating smaller more frequent meals, losing weight if you are overweight.
How to use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Omez 40 Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.
How it works
Omez 40 Tablet works by specifically blocking an enzyme system known as the “acid pump” in the stomach lining. This enzyme is responsible for the final step in the production of gastric acid. Inhibiting this pump reduces both the volume and acidity of stomach secretions, providing lasting acid suppression and promoting healing of acid-related conditions such as ulcers and reflux disease.
